Call for Abstracts (CLOSED)

Mainstreaming Sustainable Consumption

THE CALL FOR ABSTRACTS HAS NOW CLOSED. AUTHORS WILL BE INFORMED ABOUT THE REVIEW RESULTS IN LATE OCTOBER/EARLY NOVEMBER 2024.

Much is known about the problems of current consumption patterns and levels and potential remedies. However, successful examples of mainstreaming sustainable consumption remain scarce. This conference focuses on the challenges, strategies, and successes of mainstreaming sustainable consumption.

We invite interested researchers and practitioners to submit abstracts to the SCORAI Europe 2025 Conference.

Call opens: 17-06-2024
Call closes: 16-09-2024 (extended to 30-09-2024)

SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT HERE: https://www.conftool.pro/scorai2025/ (You will need to register a conference profile before you can submit your abstract. This profile is valid also for conference registration and participation.)

This conference can be attended on-site and online. All sessions (except workshops) will be fully hybrid-enabled, allowing for full participation as online participant.

Two special issues in academic journals will be organised in coordination with the conference. Authors are encouraged to develop their conference abstracts into full papers and submit them to one of the two special issues. More information about the two special issues will be made available on the conference webpage in the fall of 2024.

The conference allows for three types of presentations:

1) oral presentation
2) poster
3) exhibition & performance

Oral presentation

Conference sessions will be organised by topics. Each session will contain 4-5 oral presentations and a panel discussion of all spreakers.

Required information:

  • Author(s) and affiliation(s)
  • Title
  • Structured abstract (problem definition, method, results, significance to mainstreaming sustainable consumption), max. 500 words
  • The presenting author must indicate if they will be onsite or online
  • Presenting authors for an accepted oral session presentation (onsite or online) must register and pay for their conference attendance no later than December 15, 2024, to keep their slot. Late payment might result in their oral presentation slot being converted into a poster presentation or canceled.
  • Authors must pick at least one conference topic and might pick a session their paper should be attributed to.

Poster

Depending on the total number of posters, several poster sessions will be scheduled during the conference. Authors can choose to submit their abstract for this session. In addition, abstracts submitted for oral presentations can be accepted as poster presentations instead, depending on space limitations for oral presentations in the program.

Poster authors are responsible for producing their posters. (The conference organisers will provide the contact details to Lund University’s Media Print, which might be used for poster production.) At least one author for a poster presentation needs to be onsite for the conference.

Required information:

  • Author(s) and affiliation(s)
  • Title
  • Structured abstract (problem definition, method, results, significance to mainstreaming sustainable consumption), max. 500 words
  • Presenting author must be onsite

Exhibition & Performance

We welcome non-standard and creative input to the conference, which can be an exhibition or a performance. This might focus on a research project, an organisation supporting sustainable lifestyles, or socio-ecological innovations. Such novel formats will be accepted in so far as they are significant to the topic of ‘mainstreaming sustainable consumption’ and if their main purpose is non-commercial. The organisers will do their best to accommodate requests based on available resources.

Required information:

  • Organiser(s)
  • Title
  • Description of exhibition or performance (practicalities in terms of timing, overview of objectives and format, significance for mainstreaming sustainable consumption), max. 500 words
  • Description of support needed from conference organisers (space, furniture, electricity, etc.)

Submitted abstracts have to be allocated to at least one topic. (Up to three tags are possible.) Topic tags are an indication for the programme committee, but not binding. Abstracts are evaluated based on their quality, not their topic allocation, but even high-quality abstracts can be rejected unless they address the conference theme ‘mainstreaming sustainable consumption’. We welcome theoretical as well as empirical contributions. Conference topics include, but are not limited to:

Submitting authors can—but do not have to—indicate their interest in presenting in one of the following proposed conference sessions. The program committee will make the final decision on which sessions will be part of the conference and how oral presentations are allocated. Proposed sessions will be subject to changes, based on accepted abstracts, and to guarantee a coherent conference program. If proposed sessions do not match enough accepted abstracts, they might not be included in the conference program, and allocated abstracts re-allocated to different sessions.
